Trash can made using maple. I got a jointer and planer so this was my first project using rough cut lumber which I milled down to the required dimensions. The only metal on the whole trash can is the door pull and hinges, otherwise all mortise and tenon joinery. The drawer used for trash bag storage was hand dovetailed. The field of each side is made of 2"x1/4" slats floating in a groove on the rails and stiles. The trashcan sits inside to the left and above the drawer is room for a smaller trashcan which we use for recycling.
Joe: I really like the trash can holder, it gives me ideas. I am just starting desks(3) for the grandkids and had planned to do the sides and back in much the same manner you used for the trash can sides. I hope to cut the mortise and tenon and the grooves on the new milling machine. Rick
