National Harbor

On Sunday we spent the day at National Harbor.  We did some sightseeing, had lunch, and spent a few hours at the National Children's Museum.

Ian's favorite activity at the museum was building and racing cars.

Apple Picking

Fall is the best time of year in Virginia, not only because the weather is beautiful and the trees are starting to change color, but because of all the festivals.  Yesterday we went to the Apple Cider Festival at Great Country Farms, followed by a visit to Bluemont Vineyards.

We took a wagon ride to the apple orchard, where we picked several pounds of apples.  Ian was in charge of reaching the apples in the tops of the trees.

Mia held the bag, and was the designated taste-tester.

Yum!

The kids enjoyed the play area more than the apple picking.

The winery had a great view, and delicious wine!

T-Ball

Fall marks the beginning of sports season, and this is Ian's first attempt at playing T-Ball.  His team is the Mets.  They do practice drills for 30 minutes every Saturday morning, immediately followed by a 2-inning game against one of the other teams, in which each player gets to bat and run the bases twice.  Luckily, nobody keeps score.

First up were some fielding and throwing drills.

They they practiced running the bases.

This week Ian played 3rd base.

And he had two good hits!

Mia was content to watch from the sideline and cheer on her big brother.

Ocean City 2013

Last week we took our annual trip to Ocean City for some sun and fun.  Ian liked the ocean much better this year, and Mia liked playing with buckets.

Ian's favorite activity was the mini golf.  He played three courses and even got a few hole-in-ones!

Of course we had french fries on the boardwalk, and Ian took his first ferris wheel ride.

On our last night at the beach, Joe and Ian flew a kite and played with glow sticks on the beach after dark. Ian was the kite launcher.

It was a great trip, we can't wait to go back next year!
