Mia's Room

Nursery re-decorations are coming together nicely in preparation for Mia's arrival. The wall color stayed the same with a few new accessories to change the look from a boy room to a girl room.

New wall decals above the crib and new bedding: (Joe put the dust ruffle on - it could use some work)

Close-up of the bedding:

New curtains and some decorative accents:

New lamp shade, changing pad cover, and wall art. We still need something for over the dresser. I was hoping for name letters again, but the ones I like are backordered (only the 'I' of course) so I'm still working out Plan B.

I also have some small flower decals left, so I might use them to dress up the corners near the bookcases, but haven't decided yet.

There's not much we need in the way of baby gear, but we do have a few things that need to be replaced. Thanks to hand-me-downs and great back-to-school sales, Ms. Mia has lots of long-sleeved clothes in sizes 0-3m and 3m to get her through until Spring. We did create a baby registry on Amazon (link to the left) in case anyone is curious.

Assuming my blood pressure stays in check (so far so good), then it looks like my c-section will be scheduled for either November 1st or 2nd. I'll get the specifics at my next appointment on Sept. 9th.

Sneak Peek

Yesterday we got a special sneak preview of little miss Mia during our sonogram appointment. She was in just the right position to get a 4D image (3D + motion) of her face. She looks like me, don't you think?

I am just entering my third trimester, and except for my slightly climbing blood pressure, everything is looking really good. I will be monitored more closely from now on just to make sure my BP is under control and, if it's not, that it's not a sign of a more serious issue. The good news is that all of my labs have come back looking excellent so far, and I passed my 1-hour glucose test with flying colors, so things are already trending better than in my first pregnancy.

Cooking Lesson

Ian got a learning tower from his Grandma and Grandpa Ferner for his birthday, so today we gave him his first cooking lesson and made some puppy chow.

Measuring out the cereal.

Sneaking a snack.

I think licking the spoon was his favorite part.

Shake shake shake!

Mmmm Crabs!

Crabs are a summertime tradition in our family, and today we got a chance to meet up with Joe's cousin Mark to enjoy some delicious crabs by the water in Annapolis.

Ian loved the boats and the ducks.

Corn on the cob is the best way to keep him quiet and occupied while we pick the crabs.

Enjoying the scenery.

After wading in the river, Ian practiced for his future hobby as a sailboat captain.

Loudoun County Fair

Last weekend we visited the Loudoun County Fair. Ian enjoyed petting the animals and playing some games, but it was way too hot to stay very long.
